A MAN was arrested yesterday, and is expected to appear in Kilmarnock Sherrif court today, after a security incident at a ferry terminal yesterday that involved a police search.
The 34-year-old is believed to be Asian and was charged with breach of the peace at the Caledonian MacBrayne terminal at Ardrossan, Ayrshire.
Police said that no-one else was detained or arrested in connection with the incident, which happened before the 3:15pm Ardrossan ferry to Brodick on Arran was due to sail.
The Ayrshire terminal's marshalling yard was cordoned off by police, and police with sniffer dogs searched a ferry. The MV Caledonian Isles was bound for Brodick with 213 passengers, 33 crew, 37 cars and one coach on board and was delayed by 50 minutes.
A spokesman for CalMac, said police conducted searches of "various areas on the ship and in the immediate vicinity of the terminal". He added that "There was no immediate danger to the ship or to passengers."
