East Ayrshire Council seem to be showing a continuing commitment to using modern technology to improve the efficiency of their council services with the announcement that they are extending the Connect e booking system to as many Council services as possible.
It is intended that the system will reduce the amount of time that council employees need to spend managing appointments for the public. It will also ensure that members of the public can book apppointments for services like leisure and recreation facilities directly online without having to deal with council employees.
Easy Ayrshire Council has been a leader in using new technology to the beneft of the public and its council website is rated as one of the top seven in the UK.
The Council piloted the e-booking system internally to start with and then piloted it for the public in libraries where members of the public could book PC's in libraries online.
The software used for the e-booking system is supplied by a Swedish company Lorensburgs and the rollout takes place during early 2007.
