Hepatitis C Alert for Outpatients
NHS Ayrshire and Arran has been writing to Outpatients who may be at risk of infection from Hep C due to the discovery that a healthworker based in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology between May 1990 and June 1991 was infected. The chances of any Outpatient having been infected are likely to be small but the NHS has been offering screening. It seems the healthcare worker concerned had been unaware that they were infected. Hep C transmission is usually blood to blood and transmission through normal social contact is highly unlikely. Anyone locally who may be concerned can contact the general helpline on 0870 0501999 for information.
