Uk Mortgage lender the Halifax reported that house prices crossed the average 100,000 pound barrier for the first time. East Ayrshire also had the distinction of being among the top ten places in the country for the rate of house price increases in 2006 when prices rose 133 per cent, the average now being 128,097 pounds. This is an incredible rise in one year and shows the increased level of interest in house purchases in East Ayrshire. (report by Earth Times)
