Kirkmichael International Guitar Festival, one of Europe’s biggest guitar festivals returns on 3rd, 4th and 5th June.
Artists already confirmed include Grammy award winner Albert Lee and guitar supergroup Martins4 featuring Martin Carthy, Martin Simpson, Martin Taylor and Juan Martin.
The event is the brainchild of local internationally-famed guitarist Martin Taylor. The festival has grown to attract 5,000 people over the three day event and has high-profile supporters including Brian May, Dolly Parton, Tony Blair and Bill Wyman.
Organisers of the festival decided to take a year out in 2004 in order to review the operating and funding arrangements in the light of the event’s growing success. Audiences travel from far and wide to join local people, and it is a busy time but for local hotel, catering and retail outlets.
The event has gained considerable international status and there have already been enquiries from the USA and France from visitors planning to come to festival in June.
Ticket for the festival are now available at the Gaiety Theatre Box Office.
