Michael Caine was recently asked by the Conservatives to support them in their Election camapign. Now not a lot of people know this but although David Cameron is a big man in the Tory party he's in bad shape - specifically he's not a very good judge when it comes to picking his supporters.
Michael Caine once said " I read books like mad, but I'm careful not to let anything I read influence me". Now that should have set some warning bells off for David Cameron - but it clearly didn't. Poor old Michael Caine clearly has trouble being influenced by anything that he reads these days, scripts , invitation notes etc etc.
The invitation from David Cameron clearly read ;
"Dear Michael, Please come and speak for us at an important event about young people and tell everyone that you support the Conservatives as we try to get elected to the government."
Michael, who tries not to be too influenced by what he reads, and who has practised the art of speed reading, clearly only retained the following from his reading of the message;
"Dear Michael, speak at... important event ... about young people ...support ... the government".
The result was this bit of politcal theatre where Michael Caine duly arrived at the Conservative event and spoke up - in support of the Labour government. Brilliant. You couldn't make this stuff up.

I quote from the screen - "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation. Can you give a link? Thank you.
They have been quick off the mark to take the clip down Im afraid Rum. I searched for other versions of the clip but in all of them they have cut out the bit where he talks about how well the government is doing. They obviously werent happy about his gaff.
I too tried on youtube but what I saw there too did not contain anything remotely supportive of the present government! Thanks for trying.
