"A Man's a Man for all that!" - Rabbie Burns

"Religion? No thanks. I prefer not to outsource my brainwashing."
Trying to get your average Joe creationist to understand the phrase scientific theory is as hard as getting a fish to enjoy mountaineering. Its an unimagined world for them - it requires a complete reversal of their normal modes of thinking and being. The fact that humans could explain the complexities of this world without a creating God is a world view they cannot grasp. It's like asking a tuna if it appreciates the view from the top of Mount Everest.

The Bhudda - the thinking man's Holy Man

"Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense." - Buddha...

While I am undoubtedly an Atheist, when pressed I have in the past admitted to some level of adherence to the buddhist approach to spirituality. Now don't get me wrong here - I think organised Buddhism in the East is just as mired in supersitition and nonsense as any other religion. I mean - all the rebirth stuff - ya right. Sure I'm stardust and I'll go back to dust and be "reborn" in the sense that my atoms will be recycled; but past lives and all that - huh!

But he sure does hit the nail on the head sometimes that old Buddha man. Any Holy man who tells me that my starting point has to be reason and common sense has a head start with me!

Indeed that is a good quote. I believe it sums things up nicely.
